PRACTICAL NURSE - HYBRID
On-site/hybrid delivery in Hinton - January 2011 intake
The Practical Nurse Diploma Program teaches students the knowledge, skills and clinical judgment to provide high-quality client care in a variety of health care settings. Students learn through online lectures, labs and clinical experience.
Admission Prerequisites
- Alberta High School Diploma
- Minimum of 60% in Biology 30
- Minimum of 60% in English Language Arts 30-2 or English 33
- Minimum of 50% in Pure Math 20 or 60% in Applied Math 20
- If English is your second language, please contact YREC for information on required language assessment scores
- Clear criminal record check within three months of the program start date
- Completion of health status questionnaire
- Completion of physical and mental abilities questionnaire
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Up-to-date immunization: hepatitis B immunization may be completed while in the program
Method of Delivery
Group paced/Hybrid
Courses are taken one at a time in sequence so prerequisite course requirements are met. Course supports include print course outlines and learner guides, textbook resources, synchronous on-line classes using Elluminate Live, self-study with tutorial support, workshops, guided practice of nursing skills using actual equipment in a simulated clinical setting, videos that demonstrate skills, recorded classroom reviews, on-line discussions, case-based simulations and email.

- Post-basic Operating Room program for LPN's at Grant MacEwan College
- Post LPN to Bachelor of Nursing Degree program at Athabasca University
