Registered Nursing - Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Thinking about a career in nursing? Grant MacEwan University has recently received approval to offer a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) baccalaureate degree program. Approval of this new program is very timely. Effective January 1, 2010, new program graduates in Alberta will require a baccalaureate degree in Nursing for eligibility to write the Canadian Registered Nurse (RN) Examination and apply for initial registration as an RN. Registered Nurses (RNs) practice within complex, unpredictable, and dynamic setting to promote health and healing. RNs have an obligation to uphold the standards of practice and ethical codes of conduct. If you are a caring and compassionate individual who wants to work with people to make a difference, have a spirit of inquiry and love of learning, and are prepared to work hard to achieve this goal, nursing may be the career for you. MacEwan's BScN degree program is four years in length. Clinical practice experiences are an integral pat of the BScN program. These experiences build on an extensive theoretical base and are designed to establish a strong clinical foundation that fosters development of excellence in nursing practice. Clinical practice experiences are strategically placed within every academic year. At this time there is no intake date for students in rural settings such as Hinton. Please ensure you are on YREC's interest list for this program so we can keep you apprised of further developments.
