Prepare for your career in trades 

Now is a great time to be considering a career in the skilled trades. The demand for workers in the trades has never been higher and the employment options have never been more plentiful. NorQuest's Apprenticeship Preparation program prepares students to successfully complete the Apprenticeship entrance exam, the first step towards becoming an apprentice, and provides valuable hands-on experience in any trade.

After successfully passing your trade's entrance exam, the second half of the program will help you make the transition form student to apprentice through relevant work experience with potential employers.

Admission Prerequisites

  • Grade 8 Math or Grade 8 level assessment
  • Grade 8 English or Grade 8 level assessment
  • An interest or past experience in trade-related jobs
  • Good health and physical fitness
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Start Dates

This full-time Monday to Friday program will be offered in Edson as follows:

  • Classroom Study: Sept. 2, 2008 to Dec. 19, 2008
  • Work Experience: January 8, 2009 to April 24, 2009

Method of Delivery

  • Full-time

Upon successful completion of this program you will:

  • have passed the apprenticeship entrance exam
  • be prepared to begin training in any of the apprenticeship trades classified under Levels 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 by the Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board
  • have received assistance in finding employment in your chosen trade

Financial Aide, Bursaries and Awards

Students demonstrating financial need may be eligible for a NorQuest College Learner Access Bursary and other grants or loans. Refer to the NorQuest College Calendar for information on how to apply.
