Production Field Operations
A self-study program to provide a PFO with a basic understanding to gain employment in the expanding oil and gas industries.
The theory portion of this program is delivered via Computer Managed Learning (internet) or correspondence. Each level contains a set of booklets called modules which cover specific objectives required to successfully complete the level. These modules contain clear expectations, interesting learning activities and self-assessments. They are easy to read and punctuated with many graphics and illustrations. The modules require about three hours for the average student to learn the material and complete the assignment. Midterm and/or final exams can be scheduled at your local YREC office.
The modules are intended to create a basis for the "theoretical" part of the learning equation. It is advisable to augment this theory with practical, "hands-on" training recorded by checklists to provide a comprehensive training program.
For students who are currently working in an appropriate setting, the practical training can be completed on-site with the cooperation of a qualified supervisor. Companies which are interested in supervising this training for their employees are encouraged to contact:

Individuals who are not currently employed in the petroleum industry may progress through the theoretical training. Arrangements can then be made to complete the check lists when the individual is hired in the industry and has a supervisor available to complete the required checklists.
The Production Field Operations (PFO) course consists of four levels of 26 modules each. The 104 modules cover Field Operations, Subsurface Principles and Operations, as well as Surface Processing of Oil and gas. The course levels are designed to be taken sequentially, from level A to D, each level containing modules from the various training areas. The PFO course is ideally suited for a four or five level, progression type field training program.
Note:
- Students have 52 weeks per level to complete the required modules.
- Prices listed reflect total cost including tuition and materials fee.
- There is an additional cost of $18.95 for shipping & handling for students taking the program through correspondence.
