Millwright Apprentices

Distance Learning, Accessible, Achievable, Flexible, Affordable.

IT'S ACCESSIBLE

The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology has delivered all four periods of technical apprenticeship programming for the Millwright Trade since 1967. The Millwright program staff at NAIT have worked hard to develop a reputation for providing quality instruction in a learning environment that is student-focused and appropriate for the trade.

Now, to enhance accessibility, we are pleased to offer Millwright Apprenticeship Training through distance learning.

The Distance Learning option is an alternative method of acquiring the theoretical knowledge and practical skills for all four periods of technical apprenticeship programming for the Millwright Trade.

IT'S ACHIEVABLE

This Apprenticeship and Industry approved training option is administered by NAIT and is available to all eligible Alberta Millwright apprentices.

This training method is best suited for apprentices that:

  • Have strong reading comprehension skills.
  • Have the ability to effectively manage their time (self-disciplined).
  • Have a strong commitment to see tasks through to completion.
  • Are unable to register for a traditional apprenticeship intake/class for various reasons such as distance to travel, financial, family, work etc.
  • Currently working in the trade.
  • Work for an employer willing to support the program.

IT'S FLEXIBLE

The flexibility of distance learning offers several benefits to the apprentice:

  • Train at their own pace
  • No disruption of income
  • Reduction in training costs associated with traditional delivery methods; e.g. living away from home, transportation etc.

IT'S AFFORDABLE

  • Tuition and Student Association fees are the same as the conventional eight week block training at NAIT.
  • Print-based learning materials and associated supplies will cost approximately the same as the conventional eight week block training at NAIT.
  • Travel and accommodation costs associated with theory and practical examinations at NAIT will vary depending on individual circumstances.
