First Period Welding

Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), in cooperation with the Yellowhead Region Educational Consortium, will soon be offering an 8-week welding program. the program will provide the First Period training required by Alberta Industry and Training. Please note that this training is only available to students who are currently indentured welders and deemed eligible for First period by Apprenticeship and Industry (AIT). This training will be held in a classroom setting as well as in the NAIT in Motion trailers in Edson.

Tuition: $650.00
Student Association Fees: $48.24
Shop Materials: $53.50
Total: $751.24 plus GST

Prerequisites
All students must have been indentured apprentices and, according to AIT, be eligible to take their First Period Technical Training.

Supplies Students are responsible to supply their own:
  • Welder's Cap or beanie
  • 100% cotton work wear
  • 100% cotton shop coat or coveralls
  • work boots, preferably with steel toes
  • safety glasses with side shields
  • cutting goggles that fit over the safety glasses
  • 2 pairs of welders' gloves
  • leather welders' sleeves (optional)

NAIT will make these supplies available for purchase by students.

Trades Training - Second Period Welding

Please note that this training is only available to students who have successfully completed their First Period training and accumulated the required 1200 hours. This training will be held in a classroom setting as well as in the NAIT in Motion trailers in Edson.
