WELDING DISTANCE DELIVERY

Acquire your the theoretical knowledge and practical skills without moving to Edmonton.

How does it work?

The Distance Delivery option is an alternative method of acquiring the theoretical knowledge and practical skills for all three periods of technical apprenticeship training for the Welder trade.

This Apprenticeship and Industry approved training is administered by NAIT and is available for all eligible Alberta Welder apprentices.

This training method is best suited for apprentices that:

  • have strong reading and comprehension skills
  • have the ability to effectively manage their time (self-discipline)
  • have a strong commitment to see tasks through to completion
  • are unable to register for the traditional apprenticeship intake/class for various reasons such as  distance to travel, financial, family or employment commitments
  • are currently working in the trade
  • are working for an employer who is willing to support the program
  • have access to all equipment at their place of employment for all welding processes covered in that training period

Distance Delivery is Flexible

The flexibility of distance delivery offers several benefits to the apprentice:

  • train at their own pace
  • no disruptions of income
  • reduction in training costs associated with traditional delivery methods; i.e.: living away from home, transportation, etc.

Distance Delivery Apprenticeship Training Benefits

The employer may also benefit in the following ways:

  • reduced disruption to workforce scheduling
  • reduction in training costs
  • improved workforce productivity

The student must practice the assigned welding projects after hours or on weekends as well as completing the theory portion at home.

The student must maintain passing grades or may not be able to register in the Distance Delivery Program for the next year of training.
